Singapore’s Gardens By The Bay will consist of 3 waterfront gardens in the heart of Marina Bay, defining Singapore as the world’s premier tropical garden. The 3 waterfront gardens include: (1) Bay South, (2) Bay East and (3) Bay Central, which will complement the other attractions around Marina Bay.
According to information from the National Parks Board, the 101 hectare garden “will capture the essence of Singapore as a leading and global Garden City with the perfect environment to live and work in. Activities and attractions in the Gardens include 2 conservatories for cool climate plants, floral displays at its best, and areas for garden festivals, concerts/performances and water activities.
The construction of Gardens By The Bay began with the closure of Marina City Park in June 2007. The construction process begins with key structural works like drainage systems, main access roads and service, followed by sub-structural works like piping for the Cool/Dry conservatories. Phase 1 of the Gardens is scheduled to open for public viewing in November 2011.
The following are some photos of the Gardens’ development.
